Whether you&#8217;re passionate about protecting the planet, improving people&#8217;s health, or creating better cities, your ideas can help change the world!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The United Nations has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help make the world a better place by 2030. In this competition, you will focus on one of the following goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SDG 2:<\/strong> Zero Hunger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 3: <\/strong>Good Health and Well-being<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 6: <\/strong>Clean Water and Sanitation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 7: <\/strong>Affordable and Clean Energy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 9: <\/strong>Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 11: <\/strong>Sustainable Cities and Communities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 12: <\/strong>Responsible Consumption and Production<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 13: <\/strong>Climate Action<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 14: <\/strong>Life Below Water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 15: <\/strong>Life on Land<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re encouraged to choose a goal that excites you and use STEM to come up with innovative solutions. Whether it\u2019s designing a new app, creating a gadget, inventing a green technology, or finding ways to educate and inspire others \u2014 your creativity is key!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what\u2019s your solution to a better future? Let\u2019s bring those ideas to life and show the world how girls in STEM can make a real difference! The challenge is on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you ready to change the world? Let\u2019s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">Major Challenge Submission Guidelines:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be required to submit a video as part of your Major Challenge submission. Your video can feature a mentor and up to 2 students explaining and demonstrating the project. If it is not practical to film the project, your video could show photos together with a narrated explanation of your exploration.<br>Your video should be at most <strong>5 minutes <\/strong>long and student(s) should do at least 75% of the explanation.<br>The mentor&#8217;s role is primarily to encourage and guide students during the competition; to assist with dangerous tasks (e.g. using a stove or sharp utensils); and to help support students as they formulate ideas for their Major Challenge project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants should answer the following questions in their video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What is your project about?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What have you learnt from this project?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How might your project be useful for society?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why did you choose to participate in the Robogals Science Challenge and why should other students participate?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants will also be required to answer the following questions in their written submission:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Why did you choose this project and how did you come up with this project idea?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What did you enjoy most about this project?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What have you learnt from this project?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How did your project improve and\/or change your understanding of STEM?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How did your mentor help you?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>STEM is needed for the progression of society. How might your project be used in society? What are some of the broader uses and implications of your project?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Participants in the <strong>Intermediate <\/strong>and <strong>Senior<\/strong> categories will be asked to address an additional question:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Briefly explain:<br> &#8211; The underlying scientific theories\/principles behind your project<br> &#8211; Why you chose this method and equipment<br> &#8211; If you carried out an experiment: Is the experiment is an accurate and repeatable experiment, and why<br> &#8211; Any formulas or calculations used in your project<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Your response to Q7 should be half a page to one page in length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Submission&nbsp;Guideline<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Please use the form below to make a Major Challenge submission.
